Hong Kong – how cool is that!

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

We just found out the other day (yes, it seems strange doesn’t it) that Volli´s show, Delicious Iceland, is being aired in Hong Kong. I literally got goose bumps when I heard. Hong Kong – I mean WOW!

So I see that we’ve been getting a lot of traffic from there and I can’t tell you guys how grateful we are. And I do hope you like the show…

These days we are freezing our butts of and even though we are from Iceland it just doesn’t make sense to be cold in the Bahamas. Volli´s parents are here and instead of spending precious family time at the beach we’re literally cooped up in our pajamas and wool sweaters – drinking hot chocolate or coffee. The thing is that when it’s cold in Iceland that’s it. It’s cold outside but inside the houses it’s nice and warm. Here the humidity and the fact that the houses are freezing too just makes it horrible.
But enough already. I just saw the forecast and it should be heating up.

Meanwhile, Volli is busy planning the New Years Eve party we’re having at the restaurant. Like usual I will most likely spend the night at home watching the ball on Times Square. Maybe drinking a glass of red wine or two – playing cards with my in-laws and the elves (they exist – but not as you think) while my gorgeous little babies sleep.

Yes, life is good…

    Cheers ~

I’ve to say your cook show is one of the most amazing and inspiring one my husband and I’ve ever seen! Thanks for bringing us the native Iceland cooking in style! We enjoy spending time together in the kitchen, just like you,

    Keep the passion burning, Volli!

  4. Chef Volli says:

Dear Joe… thank you so much for those kind words… I´ll keep the passion burning! All the best, Volli.

Hello! I’m currently living in Hong Kong and just saw your show on TV! I’ve never learned much about food from Iceland before so it was very interesting… can’t wait to try some.

I can sympathize about how hard it is to live without good indoor heating – I’m from Canada, so in the winter it is nice and toasty inside. Hong Kong on the other hand… although it doesn’t get very cold, I just can’t stand being cold all the time, even inside my own house! At least now it’s nice and hot out :D

Looking forward to seeing your show again!

Hey Sarah and thank you for watching the show. I really thought that the cold would never be an issue – in the Bahamas of all places but that just goes to show. Being from Iceland where we have so much geothermal energy and are accustomed to warm houses – and even warm outdoor swimming pools. So yes – it caught me off guard completely. And when you have the humidity as well…

Your show just finished here in Iceland. I can tell you that it is a great hit with my mother and I! I’m sure others agree too.

Your recipes and the style of show make such a refreshing change to the mainstream. Don’t change it too much, it’s what makes it great.

    Thanks
    Chris

Sorry, I said “Iceland”, I meant “Hong Kong” ! :D

When is your second series coming out?

I hope they syndicate your show to mainstream TV channels in the UK too. People would love it!

Thank you so much Chris – I really appreciate it. The show has been sold to several countries and we really hope that one day it will be picked up by the BIG stations… We are currently busy doing BBQ shows for an icelandic station and finishing our very first App. The future is exciting and the second series is in the pipework.
All the best to you and your mom,
    Volli
